"The Art of Coping"

Final Major Project 2023

This was my final major project for my Degree in Illustration & Visual Communication at the University of Westminster. The collection is titled 'The Art of Coping." It has two main pieces, a mixed media illustration titled 'Schedule' and the cast plaster sculpture is titled 'Insurmountable.'This collection was apart of one of the 2023 Graduate Exhibition 'Bloom' for the Illustration class of 2023. It was also featured at the 2023 New Designers Show and featured in the show guide under 'University Highlights.'

'Insurmountable'

Plaster Sculpture

Collection Description:
'These set of creations are apart of my collection titled ‘the art of coping.’ They showcase the emotional, physical and mental turmoil of the immeasurable effects of burnout effecting more and more people daily, in school, the workplace and social situations. Creating these pieces provided catharsis to my creative burnout. As a predominately digital artist it was cathartic to physically create something born from my own emotions and experiences and release it to the world. Which in turn allowed to revaluate and mend my relationship with creating artwork again. This collection aims to help those struggling to recognise unhealthy patterns in their day to day, work ethic or mindset that may be a result of social, mental or physical burnout. To see themselves as people who feel, not to blindly ignore harmful thoughts and behaviours and to recognise their needs outside of their role in society. A chance to look at yourself reflectively through art.'
